Winter and spring are great for dirt work, but I finally stopped when I found the 2nd hibernating lizard as I raked out the dirt I had moved from our dirt pile.

My shovel cut off a bit of the tail of the first lizard. About 20 minutes later I raked out rocks and found another lizard.

I moved them under bushes and covered them with dirt.  I checked on them a couple of times and they were still alive.   A couple of weeks later, they’re finally gone.

Back to working on the dirt pile now, hopefully they’re all awake now.   I’ve seen the roadrunner prancing about, lizards seem to be their main food source.
